Becoming a Main Street Community

How can your community become a member of our Heritage Ohio Main Street Program?

1. 1. Host a Downtown Assessment Resource Team visit

• D.A.R.T. visit includes
  • Heritage Ohio Staff and Ohio Main Street Manager on site
  • Half-day walking tour assessment
  • Full day presentation regarding the Main Street Approach to revitalization
  • Revitalization Recommendations Report
• D.A.R.T. visit must be hosted within 5 years of applying to the Main Street Program
• D.A.R.T. visit costs $2500.00

1. 2. Join as an Emerging program

• Emerging membership includes
  • Strategic planning staff visit
  • Committee work planning visit
  • Discounted rates for Ohio Main Street training
  • Manager and Board Networking meetings
  • Access to the Ohio Main Street List Serve
  • Access to the Ohio Main Street knowledge Base
  • Unlimited staff consultation
  • Year End Evaluation
• District may not remain in the Emerging program for more than 3 years
• Emerging membership costs $2500.00 annually

1. 3. Complete the Ohio Main Street Application and schedule application site review

• District must spend at least one year in the Heritage Ohio Emerging program before applying to the Ohio Main Street Program
• Applications with instructions will be delivered to Emerging programs interested in applying.
• The Ohio Main Street Selections Committee will schedule an on-site evaluation with Emerging program board and committee members to determine eligibility
• New Main Street communities will be selected on a rolling basis and announced at the Heritage Ohio Annual Conference.

1. 4. Join as an Ohio Main Street Start Program

• Ohio Main Street membership includes
  • Strategic planning staff visit
  • Committee work planning visit
  • New manager training
  • Discounted rates for Ohio Main Street training
  • Manager and Board Networking meetings
  • Access to the Ohio Main Street List Serve
  • Access to the National Main Street Center List Serve
  • Access to the Ohio Main Street knowledge Base
  • Access to the National Main Street Center Knowledge Base
  • Unlimited staff consultation
  • Year End Evaluation
• Ohio Main Street Membership costs $3300 annually
