Warren

Designated as the seat of Trumbull County in 1801, Warren, Ohio is proudly known as the “Historic Capital of the Western Reserve.” Listed on the National Register of Historic Places (1983), the Warren Commercial Historic District includes what is deemed one of the most magnificent county courthouses in the state. The four-acre Courthouse Square remains the focal point of the charming downtown where a number of historic buildings are being renovated, resulting in momentum for the city’s revitalization.

In addition to the rich architectural heritage, contemporary amenities add to the quality of life. The Warren Community Amphitheater, located on “Millionaire’s Row” in the heart of downtown, draws thousands of patrons to the popular “River Rock at the Amp” concert series every summer. From the affectionately nicknamed Amp, the panorama includes the Mahoning River that circles Perkins Park, the stately Kinsman House, and the more recently installed World War II Memorial.

Long a center of commerce and manufacturing, Warren is best known as the home of the Packard Electric Company that allowed it to become the first city in the United States to light its streets with incandescent bulbs. In 1899, the company’s subsidiary, the New York and Ohio Company, produced the first Packard motor car. Today, the National Packard Museum attracts visitor from around the world and joins the Packard Music Hall, Sutliff Museum, John Stark Edwards House, Warren Symphony Orchestra, and Trumbull Art Gallery in providing an array of cultural offerings.
