  1. Sorry the title information did not come through on the entry. Please title it “Night Train Approaching Ashtabula.” The depot is on the most endangered list and that is why I featured it. There is an effort underway to save the building. I’m honored to be a finalist. Thank you.

The Mansfield Reformatory was the location of my “Library Survival” photograph. The Mansfield Reformatory Preservation Society uses donations and tour fees to restore the 1890 building to its original appearance. Thank you, Heritage Ohio, for recognizing the historic site and my photography work!

Night Train Approaching Ashtabula. YES time to save the history and not let big business tear it down

  6. Dennis says:

Photo #3 of the Library at the now closed Mansfield Reformatory is by far the best of all. It is a true piece of Ohio history . It was the site where The Shawshank Redemption was filmed. None of the other photos in the group capture the artistry that this one does. Hopefully this one will.be chosen as the winner. I have been a professional photographer for over 30 years. I believe I can identify fine photographic art.

Jill, Thanks for your interest in voting. Unfortunately, voting ended at 5pm on Friday, after your comment came in, so the voting was closed. You’ll have a chance to vote next year when we have our 2017 contest, so put Preservation Month 2017 on your calendar.
