Ohio’s Top Preservation Opportunities is a program to recognize under-utilized buildings in our communities which could benefit from technical assistance.

Each year Heritage Ohio accepts nominations from around the state which are reviewed on a variety of criteria. Taken into consideration are geographic distribution; building variety type; historic significance; and the nature of technical assistance needs.

Usually about ten properties are chosen, and properties may be re-listed from year to year if we believe we can continue to provide assistance to further the chances of a Top Opportunity “success.”

When a property is selected Heritage Ohio assembles a team of experts, and arranges a site visit to talk with the owner and local activists to help find solutions and a better future.
