Here’s your chance to nominate a building you believe deserves a second chance as one of Heritage Ohio’s 2012 Top Preservation Opportunities. Heritage Ohio’s Top Preservation Opportunities is an annual listing meant to recognize under-utilized buildings across Ohio which could benefit from hands-on technical assistance on rehabilitation strategies and ideas.

What type of building/site should I nominate as a Top Opportunity?

We're looking for properties that have not yet been preserved, but deserve a second chance. Underutilized buildings with historic significance, potential to become a community asset, and local community support, deserve attention as important preservation opportunities. You can nominate an endangered school, historic home, vacant commercial building, historic farmstead under development pressures, or threatened religious complex, as a few examples.

What happens once I submit a nomination?

A selection committee will review all nominations and choose the 2012 Top Preservation Opportunities. The selected nominees will be announced at Heritage Ohio's Annual Preservation & Revitalization Conference in Toledo on May 10. Each of the Top Opportunities will receive a complimentary site visit from historic preservation professionals to help evaluate its feasibility for reuse and to promote the site.

When is the deadline?

Nomination forms must be submitted by March 30, 2012.
