Building History

This is the first ever built parsonage in Hudson, Ohio. Rev. Giles Doolittle requested lodging for his young family and the First Congregational Church of Hudson accommodated his needs with the help of renowned architect, Simeon Porter.  The Reverend was friends with John Brown and his family. Community Plan

The house will be restored as closely as possible to its original state.  Living history opportunities will be offered to the public, such as dining with the Doolittle family through Pioneer, Civil War and Victorian suppers  The experience will expand to offerinteractive programs to students, daycares, camps and various clubs. Elementary through college age students will be given the opportunity to discover cultural wares and customs of the 19th century. They will also explore the social, cultural, economic and agricultural growth of Ohio through our different programs: Settler, Canal, Civil War, and Victorian.
