    HELLO!
I AM ON THE COUNCIL IN HIGGINSPORT OHIO. WE HAVE A OLD SCHOOL THAT IS ON THE HISTORAL SOCIETY REGISTER. THE TOWN DOES NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO IMPROVE IT. DO YOU HAVE ANY ONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO COME IN AND RE HAB OR PUT APARTMENTS OR WELL CENTER ETC. IN IT.
WE HAVE TO DO SOMTHING BECAUSE PEOPLE KEEP BREAKING IN TO IT. IF YOU HAVE ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS SCHOOL PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
    THANK YOU PATRICK ELLIOTT

  3. Powhatan Point Revitalization Committee have purchased school through bid process for $100. State of Ohio requires them to give away or auction bldg. Steps to get there are: (1) form and register with State/IRS [$125/$300] as Non-Profit Association (501c3); (2) canvas community for membership – $5 fee to join; (3) Put a plan together showing use and costs for renovation – may find it unachievable; (4) If doable with donations grants, tax credits, etc.; request board of ed to donate property to your org – get municipal govt to support effort; (5) Set-up web site to market use; (6) solicit tax-free donations; (7) get potential tenants lined up; (8) if large enough find ways to make use for community purpose – day care, community/youth/senior center, arts studio/galleries, government offices, fitness rehab center, adult education programs, library, museum, etc.; and (9) form grants committee and chase multi-programs county/state/fed/private.
