The Best Boutique Hotels in Ohio

We love to explore our home state of Ohio, and always search out a hotel with character– even better if it’s in a historic building. New or old, the best Ohio boutique hotels combine unique character and decor with traditional hotel luxuries. In keeping with the luxe spirit of boutique hotels, all of our picks are 3-star or above. Whether you’re looking for a weekend getaway or visiting from out of state, these standout hotels are worth considering. Here’s our favorite boutique hotels throughout Ohio:

Graduate Hotels are a small boutique chain which carefully tailors their eclectic decor to the history and character of each city. For the Graduate Columbus, that means a palette dominated by OSU’s signature scarlet and gray, along with a vintage inspired feel that references Ohio icons. (Be sure to check out the dining room chandelier that pays tribute to “The Best Damn Band in the Land”– it’s also on our list of must-visit Ohio State University tourism spots).

Kimpton Schofield Hotel, Cleveland, Ohio

We love Cleveland’s Kimpton Schofield boutique hotel for its immaculately decorated modern rooms with colorful touches. They’re essentially the hotel version of your hippest friend’s city apartment. And featuring luxe touches like Frette linens, the Schofield easily earns their 4 stars.

Toledo, Findlay, and Northwest Ohio Boutique Hotels

Note: while there are some nice hotels (like the Renaissance) in Toledo, we were hard-pressed to find boutique hotels in the area that met our standards–or really any boutique hotels at all. However, we can wholeheartedly recommend the Hancock Hotel below!

The Hancock Hotel, Findlay, Ohio

Bathroom of a suite in the Hancock Hotel in Findlay, Ohio

Yes, the beds are wonderful here too, but would you look at that bathroom?? Having stayed in a (shockingly reasonably priced) suite at the Hancock Hotel several years in a row while visiting family over the holidays, I can tell you that a suite is the only way to go. Suites also feature a completely separate sitting room and bedroom, along with a generously sized open closet to hang and stow your clothing.
