Historic Preservation Easements Webinar
Wednesday, September 19th 1:00pm – 2:00 pm
Join Heritage Ohio’s Frank Quinn for an introduction to easements for historic buildings, on September 19, 1pm-2pm. As Heritage Ohio’s director of preservation, Frank administers the organization’s statewide easement program.
Why place an easement on a historic building? Easements are the single most effective tool to guarantee the preservation of a historic building in perpetuity. Heritage Ohio has worked with a diverse group of owners to place easements on buildings in cities across Ohio, with owners ranging from private for-profit owners, to a non-profit owner, to a municipal building owner. Join us to learn more about this powerful preservation tool and how it works.
Webinar attendees will learn:
1) What an easement is and how the easement agreement legally protects a building;
2) How Heritage Ohio’s easement program works in practice;
3) How the IRS may view an easement taken on a historic building;
4) How easements are monitored in perpetuity and how requests for alterations to buildings are considered.
This webinar has been approved by AIA for 1.0 LU credits.
