Preservation Month

Established in 1973 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, each May during Preservation Month entities and individuals across the nation celebrate the heritage, places, and stories that matter. During Preservation Month, many events are planned to promote historic places for the purpose of instilling national and community pride, promoting heritage tourism, and showing the social and economic benefits of historic preservation.

Heritage Ohio has participated in preservation month over the years through various activities including special webinars, preservation workshops, old house fairs, and our annual preservation month photo contest. Preservation Month Photo Contest

Every year, Heritage Ohio holds a photo contest with a preservation-oriented theme that takes place during May and ends with a public vote of the top candidates. The winner gets an article and their winning photo on the cover of Revitalize Ohio. Learn more…

Preservation Month Webinar Series

Heritage Ohio’s monthly webinar series brings preservation and downtown revitalization expertise to your fingertips and makes continuing education and personal development in these fields accessible to everyone from the professional to the volunteer. During preservation month we often triple and even quadruple our webinar offerings and focus in on preservation themes to educate and support the people on the ground saving the places that matter and telling Ohio’s stories.
