  • First Friday: Fire & Ice – Delaware
    Warm Yourself by the FIRE as you enjoy the art of ICE sculpting. Fire barrels and an ice sculptor will be in downtown Delaware for your enjoyment.
  • First Friday: Fire & Ice Festival – Marietta
    Back for its fourth year, the Fire & Ice Festival will kick off the new year in downtown Marietta with ice sculptures staged throughout and additional fun to enjoy!
  • First Friday: Art Walk – Medina
    Bundle up with Winter Sales at participating merchants, stroll the Street Tree Art Walk, and enjoy special “Blue Dot” Art Walk locations.
  • First Friday: Meet Our New Director – Painesville
    Please join the Downtown Painesville Organization Board to welcome the new Executive Director, Joy Severa, at The Gage House.
  • First Friday: Roaring 20s Murder Mystery – Troy
    Troy Main Street will be set up in the back room of Winans Chocolates + Coffees with a list of questions you will have to find the answers to in order to solve the murder mystery. Various downtown businesses will participate as suspects and you will have to stop in each business to ask them a question and then see if you can solve the mystery with the answers you receive. Anyone who guesses the correct Murderer will be entered into a drawing for a prize at the end of the night. Costumes are encouraged! This is a free event.
  • First Friday: Aloha! Tropical Winter Luau
    Grab your grass skirt and head downtown to shop local, enjoy a tropical drink, and have fun celebrating the new year!

  • Founders Day Breakfast – Painesville
    Join Downtown Painesville for a panel discussion to learn more about Downtown Historic Painesville. Come ready to guess some of the most unique discoveries from the application process for the National Register of Historic Places. The panel will include Tara Carlson, Preparer, Lynn White, City Planner, and Bill Smith, Historian.

    This is a progressive dinner through downtown Delaware. All ticket-holders will begin at [gath•er] for appetizers, then continue throughout various venues in the downtown, and end at 1808 American Bistro for dessert and the awards ceremony! Tickets are available on the website.
  • Portsmouth Today – Portsmouth
    Join Main Street Portsmouth for their quarterly forum highlighting positivity through a series of speakers who will update guests on their public events and projects, answer questions anyone may have, and hear input from those in attendance.

    Visit the annual Christmas Light Show in historic downtown Cambridge.
  • Dickens Victorian Village – Cambridge

    Experience the magic of a train ride with Santa himself. During your hour long journey, Santa and his elves will make their way through the train to visit with each family.     Take a free carriage ride through historic downtown Marietta and stop by to see Santa to let him know what you want for Christmas this year. See events for times and dates.
  • Downtown Tiffin Holiday Cash Give-A-Way – Tiffin
    Shop at participating businesses Nov 15 – Dec 21 and enter to win $1000 cash. No limit to number of entries! Each participating business will also pick a winner from their entries to receive a $100 gift card to their business. Winners will be drawn Sunday, December 22 at noon at the Court House Square.
  • Downtown Tiffin Holiday Window Contest – Tiffin
    Help Downtown Tiffin celebrate the Holidays with a downtown tiffin window contest! Stop by the participating businesses and vote for your favorite. Voting begins November 30 on Small Business Saturday and ends December 5th. Winner announced at the Christmas tree Lighting on December 6th.

  • Vermilion Arts Guild Holiday Show – Vermilion
    The final show of the season puts the focus on winter and the holidays. Shop for holiday gift items among paintings, photography, jewelry, woodworking, ceramics and more all created by local Vermilion artists.

  • Story Mob – Marietta
    Story Mobs are a little bit different than our normal Cash Mobs. Participants aren’t expected to shop, unless they want to! Instead, Story Mobbers will hear backstories about each participating business directly from the business owner. Mobbers will enjoy refreshments, live demos, sneak peeks, behind-the-scenes tours, and/or more thanks to each of our *surprise* participating locations!

  • Christmas Lights on the Square – Chardon
    Join Chardon Tomorrow as they light up the square for Christmas! Along with the colorful lights, they will have live music and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus! Cider and ginger snaps are served throughout the evening.
  • Light Up Vermilion! – Vermilion
    Christmas lights and shopping at night…in small town style. Come to Vermilion this evening an evening of holiday fun and activities.

  • Home for the Holidays Weekend – Delaware
    Main Street Delaware brings you a holiday to remember! Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:30 pm.  Join other families and feel the sense of love and community as we light our magnificent Christmas Tree at the corner of William and Sandusky Streets. Delaware’s tree lighting is a magical experience. Other Friday night highlights include: – Horse-drawn carriage rides $1 per person, over the age of 5 – Life-sized snow globe – Frozen themed bounce house – Visits with Santa – Carolers and live musical performances – Magic and kids activities – Shopping and store specials
  • First Friday: Art Walk – Kent
    Explore special exhibits, enjoy demonstrations, snacks, hands-on activities and more in downtown Kent.
  • First Friday: Moonlight Madness – Marietta
    December’s First Friday is a favorite for all of Marietta to enjoy! Shops are open EXTRA late for Moonlight Madness, some staying open straight through ’til midnight! Participating stores will each have a savings bucket filled with snowballs, each marked with a discount percentage ranging from 10% to 50%. Shoppers can select their merchandise and at the checkout, select a snowball for their surprise discount! Get stamped at each stop to be entered to win FREE HOT CHOCOLATE FOR A YEAR, thanks to our friends at Triple Moon Coffee Company and Mockingbirds!   • Mount Vernon Christmas Festival – Mount Vernon
    The festivities downtown kick off in downtown Mount Vernon with Lights & Carols at 7:00 P.M. Santa arrives in style with a ride from Knox Motor Group. He starts the festivities by lighting the tree on the Public Square. After this, local musical groups will lead a Christmas Music sing along.
  • Christmas on the Green – Piqua
    Community caroling, horse-drawn carriage rides, strolling characters, children’s activities and live entertainment make this family-oriented holiday celebration a “must do” on many calendars. Stop in and visit downtown Piqua’s many stores to choose the perfect gift for your loved one.
  • Tree Lighting & Holiday Celebration – Tipp City
    Join Downtown Tipp City at the Zion Lutheran Church for the illumination of the Downtown Christmas Tree! This is a fun and festive event for all ages! Enjoy tunes from the Community Band, sing along with the Tipp City High School Choir, or snack on some delicious treats.
  • A Very Merry Main Street Christmas – Van Wert

  • First Friday: Candlelight Walk & Gingerbread Village – Wadsworth
    Wadsworth’s traditional and cherished Candlelight Walk event a First Friday this year! Come downtown to get into the holiday spirit, stroll the luminary-lined streets, shop and dine local, and check out unique gingerbread houses on display inside of downtown businesses!
  • Downtown Churches Walking Tour – Wooster
    Tour 8 historical Downtown Wooster churches in one evening. At each church, participants can sing a Christmas carol, hear a bit of the church’s history & admire their Christmas decorations.

  • Northpole Adventures – Cambridge
    Help the less fortunate this holiday season and visit with Santa, Mrs. Claus and the gang from the North Pole in historic downtown Cambridge! Pre-registration is required and admission is by donation, either monetary or a non-perishable food item listed on the event page. All items will be donated to the Grace Pantry to help stock their shelves.
  • Home for the Holidays Weekend – Delaware
    Main Street Delaware brings you a holiday to remember! Dash for Dasher Scavenger Hunt – Santa has lost Dasher! Explore downtown Delaware following Santa’s clues to find him and have fun along the way. Main Street Delaware will collect a voluntary monetary donation or a box of cereal for our local food pantries. Holiday Shopping Extravaganza! Shop downtown Delaware stores with holiday specials, deals or snacks! Participate by getting a stamp at each store you make a purchase, turn in your card for a chance to win Chocolate Walk tickets!
  • The Holiday Marietta Marketplace – Marietta
    The Holiday Marietta Marketplace is a unique, mobile curated market showcasing the products of local and regional vendors and small businesses. This marketplace is located in the heart of downtown, providing visitors the opportunity to browse booths of art, quality handcrafts, vintage goods, and much more!
  • Jingle Booze Holiday Bar Crawl – Marietta
    Join Marietta Main Street for a Holiday Bar Crawl. Participants will receive exclusive drink discounts and food offers, as well as custom merchandise opportunities.
  • Mount Vernon Christmas Festival – Mount Vernon

    The tradition of celebrating the holiday season with an old-fashioned hometown parade is a long one in downtown Piqua. Families and friends, young and old, fill the streets for this festive event. After the parade kids can visit with Santa in the lobby of the Fort Piqua Plaza.
  • Downtown Holiday Open House – Portsmouth
    A follow up to Small Business Saturday, the Holiday Open House welcomes everyone to downtown Portsmouth to continue holiday shopping at local businesses. Downtown businesses will offer various discounts and sales, along with other holiday treats, for shoppers. The best gift you can give isn’t only the special, unique find in a local retailer, but the business you keep local! See you downtown soon!
  • Downtown Tiffin Christmas Walk – Tiffin
    Looking for a fun way to explore downtown Tiffin? The downtown Christmas Walk is a perfect way to see all the great downtown shops! For $20, your ticket allows you to visit participating location and collect a unique treat. There are typically 20-25 stops in the downtown area. Get a group of friends together and wear your walking shoes! Prior to the walk, $35 VIP ticket holders will enjoy a brunch at the Empire 138.
  • The Christmas Tree Ship – Vermilion
    No other community can boast a Christmas tradition like this one. Main Street Vermilion invites everyone, young and old, to bundle up and gather riverside at McGarvey’s Landing for the arrival of The Christmas Tree Ship!

  • Home for the Holidays Weekend – Delaware
    Main Street Delaware brings you a holiday to remember! Holiday Parade – The Post Office also be on hand to collect your letters to Santa along the parade route!
  • Mount Vernon Christmas Festival – Mount Vernon
    The theme of this year’s Christmas parade is “Christmas in the Movies” and will include prize categories as in previous years. The parade route will come up South Main Street, around the square, and continue up North Main Street ending at the Living Center. Many local restaurants will be open for refreshments before and after the parade.
  • Tour of Lofts – Portsmouth
    Main Street Portsmouth is bringing back a classic this holiday season with the Tour of Lofts. The tour is a casual Sunday stroll through various downtown Portsmouth loft apartments that highlight ingenuity and modern creative design that complements the lifestyle of living in a dearly loved, but old and storied, space in the heart of downtown.

Attendees may visit as many or as few locations as they wish. All ticket holders will be entered in a raffle prize drawing. Prizes will also be awarded randomly throughout the evening for the “Ugliest Sweaters” worn by attendees. This is a great opportunity to explore downtown bars and restaurants, enjoy time with friends, and kick off the holiday season!

  • Holly Jolly 5k/10k – Piqua
    Hit the ground running with the holiday tradition in downtown Piqua. These annual 5K & 10K runs make use of the beautiful Piqua PATH.

Cincinnati Union Terminal Case Study: Completing a Part 1, 2, & 3 for a Historic Preservation Tax Credit Project Webinar

The restoration of the Cincinnati Union Terminal was an extremely complex $200 million dollar historic tax credit project. They did an outstanding job of sheparding the project through the SHPO and NPS review process in completing the Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.

Join us and learn more about how to focus your work to navigate the process successfully. It takes a team, we will be joined by historic preservation architect Jack Waite, FAIA and Mariangela Pfister, SHPO’s chief HTC reviewer.

    Imagine horse-drawn carriages, hitches and riders, all outfitted with Holiday Lights, making their way down Main Street. Christmas banners and decorated street trees will create an amazing backdrop for this dazzlingly fun family-friendly event.

  • Friendsgiving – Delaware
    Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful for everything we have and celebrate the simple things: family, friends, community, health and happiness. Let’s gather together to enjoy a wonderful meal and reflect on all for which we are thankful. Let’s propel thankfulness forward by showing our support toward the organization that works so hard to build our community. A portion of all proceeds from this event will be donated back to Main Street Delaware, the local downtown non-profit organization creating community in Delaware.

  • 2019 Candlelight Medina Walk – Medina
    The holiday season kicks off November 22-24, 2019, as Main Street Medina presents the 35th annual Medina Candlelight Walk. Community Roles in Ecosystem Building Webinar

Using the CO.STARTERS Community Roles In Ecosystem Building model, we will identify the diverse set of roles needed to more comprehensively address community issues.

He loves CO.STARTERS because we are helping people and communities thrive. His first business in middle school when he got together with his siblings and started selling homemade popsicles to the neighborhood kids. It took off and eventually put the local ice cream truck out of business! He used their profits to buy a go-cart, and learned a lot of lessons along the way…

Preparing a Successful Bid for State Capital Budget Dollars Webinar

With the passage of the state’s main operating budget, attention now turns to the state Capital Appropriations Budget, which will be introduced and passed in early 2020. The capital budget provides communities with the opportunity to seek state funding assistance for projects that involve the acquisition, construction, equipment, or renovation of buildings and other facilities that meet a defined “public purpose.” Communities – especially Ohio’s weaker market and smaller communities – must be prepared to “make their case” to secure funds for catalytic projects in their community.

This webinar will:
• Provide communities with a “101 on the Capital Budget”
• Highlight examples of small communities utilizing capital budget dollars for thoughtfully-planned projects, including their planning steps and process to secure funds
• Allow time for a Q&A for communities to ask questions

As the Manager of Government Affairs for the Greater Ohio Policy Center, Jason is responsible for representing GOPC at the Ohio Statehouse, advocating for the issues and policy positions central to the organization’s mission.

Jason brings more than 15 years of experience working in and around Ohio state government. For more than eight years, he served as a legislative aide in the Ohio House of Representatives. For the past eight years, Jason has worked as a policy advocate, working on issues including education, housing, transportation, community revitalization and brownfield redevelopment.

Jessica DeLong Bachman

 

As the Grants Administrator for the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, Jessica is responsible for approving appropriations for cultural projects in the biennial capital budget. Jessica has been working for the State of Ohio for 10 years, approving construction projects at cultural facilities throughout the entire state.

  • Take a Hike – Cleveland Take a Hike Tour in Cleveland
    Take a Hike offers six (FREE!) guided walking tours of distinct neighborhoods in downtown Cleveland! Weekly tours explore the Gateway District, University Circle, Warehouse District, Civic Center, Playhouse Square neighborhood and Canal Basin Park in the Flats. Each tour lasts approximately one and a half hours in length, and features actors and actresses portraying historic figures from Cleveland’s past. Check the website for the full schedule of tours.
  • South Town Cruise-In – Medina
    Join Main Street Medina for a weekly cruise-in in Medina’s South Town, Tuesday evenings, May 21-September 24th from 4-8pm at 233 Lafayette Rd (the former Hawkins Market parking lot, soon to be the new home of Medina County Habitat for Humanity). See some of the best classic, collectible, rat rod, hot rod, and muscle cars in Northeast Ohio, and enjoy classic tunes from the 1950-70’s with DJ Bruce.     Enjoy quality time with your dog during Main Street event second annual Hot Diggity Dog Day. Held at the foot of Main Street in Vermilion you’ll find vendors, dog games and fun, prizes, kid activities, giveaways, off leash beach time and more including the K9 Costume Contest. Each registrant also receives a Wag Bag, filled with dog swag Afterward, stay in town to shop our Downtown Dog merchants featuring dog-related products and join in the Weenie Walk. Our restaurants are creating hot dog and sausage menu items and brews, drinks, desserts and more named for dogs! Many have pet friendly patios or offer carry out to enjoy in our downtown parks.
  • Wooster Arts & Music Fest – Wooster
    This year’s festival will feature amazing headliner bands, a fine art and craft show, children’s activities, local wine and beer, and gourmet food trucks. The fine art and craft show features 33 spectacular artists with works for sale and art demonstrations all day. Children’s activities will include balloons, the return of the Kids’ Creation Station, and chalk art.

  • Area 51 Fun Run – Medina
    Let’s have some Area 51 Fun and raise funds for Spokes Cafe! Spokes Cafe provides meaningful employment to adults with disabilities in Medina County and is a true asset to our community! Their coffee shop sits at the Champion creek trail head, which is the path we will run! Strollers and one dog per runner are permitted. Come dressed as your favorite alien, military security force or just wear your tin foil hat so we can’t read your mind!
  • Dog Day Downtown – Middletown
    Downtown Middletown is going to the dogs, again! Join us in downtown Middletown for the 5th Annual DOG DAY DOWNTOWN! This evening is all about you and your best friend! Bring your BFF’s (Best Furry Friends) to downtown Middletown to enjoy loads of free treats (trick or treat style for your pooch!), free vaccinations, $20 Microchipping, contests, raffles, explore multiple animal rescues, fun shopping and more!

  • Victory Heights & Clark Avenue Walking Tour – Piqua
    Victory Heights was a World War II housing complex and Clark Avenue holds many additional homes from that era. From brick bungalows built into the hill to the addition of asbestos and cement shingling (Glatex), the war made a huge impact on Clark Avenue housing. At the bottom of the hill, war industries such as the Wood Shovel & Tool Company and the Meteor Motor Car Company provided full employment to Clark Avenue residents who had just recently been suffering through the Great Depression.

    Dine around the fountain and enjoy a live musical performance by The Barnhart Band. We’ll kick off the evening with appetizers and live art demonstrations, followed with dinner prepared by Basil’s on Market, and desserts sourced from your favorite local spots.     Through an upcoming quarterly public forum, the Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Portsmouth are working in part with Community Action to bring the community together, build momentum on progress, and focus attention on just how much goes on that often goes unnoticed. It will highlight positivity by focusing on a series of speakers who will update guests on their public events and projects, answer questions anyone may have, and hear input from those in attendance.

  • Haunted Spirits Pub Crawl – Mount Vernon
    Join Main Street Mount Vernon and Knox County Landmarks Foundation for a Haunted Spirits Pub Crawl! Have you heard voices in buildings when no one was around? Maybe it wasn’t just in your head. Listen to haunted stories about well-known locations in Mount Vernon as your group is guided from bar to bar. Want to really get in the “haunted spirit”? Come dressed in costume and be entered into a Costume Contest! Participants can vote on their favorite costumes throughout the night with the winner being announced when all groups reunite at SBC!
  • Downtown Troy Chocolate Walk – Troy
    Explore historic downtown Troy and sample delicious chocolates.
  • After Game Rally in the Alley – Van Wert
    Bring your crew out to celebrate football, friends, and friday nights. Adult beverages will be available for you to buy and enjoy after the football game!

  • Kent Creativity Festival – Kent
    Kent’s annual outdoor hands-on arts festival, this event will feature a wide variety of interactive creative activities presented by local and regional artists and art educators. Attendees can enjoy hands-on activities in jewelry-making, weaving, dance, silk screen, architecture, creative writing, improvisational theatre, poetry, sewing and music therapy. This multi-generational event is free and open to everyone. 
  • Country Applefest – Lebanon

  • Harvest Moon Festival – Van Wert

    Main Street Vermilion hosts another delightful Tour of homes. This year is extra special with an easily walkable tour of four beautiful homes in Historic Harbourtown as well as looks inside the Captain Gilchrist Guesthouse, Vermilion Opera House, Vermilion Lighthouse and Moes Marine Historic Boatyard. The atmosphere of this unique neighborhood with historic and lake captain homes is just steps from the Vermilion River, Main Street Beach and Lake Erie.
