Creative Signs Belong in Historic Districts Webinar
Wednesday, January 15th – 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Signage can be vital to attracting customers, but how do you create visually interesting signs that enhance the historic streetscape, promote business activity, and are compatible with the surrounding historic context? Learn how Denver’s Landmark Preservation staff works with sign applicants through the design review process to serve business needs while also enhancing historic buildings and the streetscape. Attendees will understand how staff apply design guidelines in relation to different sign types and comprehensive sign plans.

Members of design review boards, downtown advocates, downtown building and business owners, and preservation advocates.

Various downtown businesses will participate as suspects and you will have to stop in each business to ask them a question and then see if you can solve the mystery with the answers you receive. Anyone who guesses the correct Murderer will be entered into a drawing for a prize at the end of the night. Costumes are encouraged! This is a free event. -

Take a Hike – Cleveland
Take a Hike offers six (FREE!) guided walking tours of distinct neighborhoods in downtown Cleveland! Weekly tours explore the Gateway District, University Circle, Warehouse District, Civic Center, Playhouse Square neighborhood and Canal Basin Park in the Flats. Each tour lasts approximately one and a half hours in length, and features actors and actresses portraying historic figures from Cleveland’s past. Check the website for the full schedule of tours. -
South Town Cruise-In – Medina

East Green Summer Concert Series: New Day Collective – Tiffin
The New Day is a collective of vertan Detroit musicians. A new project, the band formed in 2019 and is currently working on their first record. Stylistically the band is rooted in Jazz Fusion, Funk, Rock, Latin, R&B and Hip Hop with a Detroit edge. The band plays a mix of originals and select covers from bands like The Brecker Bros, and Snarky Puppy and The Crusaders.

The 2019 Heritage Ohio Annual Preservation and Revitalization Conference will be held in historic downtown Newark, October 21-23, at The DoubleTree Hotel Newark.

Special Guests
This year, we are excited to announce our special guest presenters at our conference.
Chief Glenna Wallace of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma will kick off the conference as the opening plenary speaker on Tuesday, October 22.
Chief Wallace was elected into office in 2006 and is the first woman to ever hold this position in her tribe. From 1968 to 2006, Chief Wallace worked at Crowder College. She spent over 38 years in various capacities at the college; some of her positions included: Interim Academic Dean, Department Chair of Communications, Director of International Travel and Director of Adult Basic Education (GED). Chief Wallace holds degrees from several institutions, which include an Ed.S., M.A. and B.A. from Pittsburg State University and Post Graduate Studies at Tulsa, Arkansas, and Southwest Missouri State Universities.
The opening plenary is open to the public.
