Recurring Events

  • Take a Hike – Cleveland

    Take a Hike offers six (FREE!) guided walking tours of distinct neighborhoods in downtown Cleveland! Weekly tours explore the Gateway District, University Circle, Warehouse District, Civic Center, Playhouse Square neighborhood and Canal Basin Park in the Flats. Each tour lasts approximately one and a half hours in length, and features actors and actresses portraying historic figures from Cleveland’s past. Check the website for the full schedule of tours.

  • Dickens Victorian Village – Cambridge

    Take a trip back in time and experience old world England as historic downtown Cambridge, Ohio, is charmingly transformed into a Dickens Victorian Village each holiday season. From November through mid January each year, visitors are invited to stroll amidst over 92 scenes of 166 lifelike figures representing classic scenes from Victorian society. While in Cambridge, experience the spectacular Guernsey County Courthouse Light Show.

  • North Pole Express – Lebanon

    The LM&M Railroad will have our station area decorated with lights for the Christmas season. Hot chocolate and cookies will be available on the platform while you wait for your train and are included with your ticket. Each passenger will receive one cookie that is peanut free, egg free, tree nut free, and dairy free. Every passenger will receive a FREE souvenir hot chocolate mug. Each child will receive a special “North Pole Express” souvenir train ticket.
    During the hour long journey Santa and his elves will make their way through the train to visit with each family. Every child will receive a bell from Santa’s sleigh. We encourage you to bring your own camera, pictures with Santa are allowed and encouraged. Balloon artists will also be on-board the train.

  • Annual Christmas Parade Auction & Fundraiser – Mount Vernon

    Join us for the 2018 Christmas Parade Auction! Support an annual holiday tradition in downtown Mount Vernon while gaining publicity for your business!

    Starting a new tradition: A gift card tree will be on display, with your $20 donation, you will have the chance at pulling a gift card valued between $5-$100. All proceeds will be donated to the 2018 Christmas Walk and Main Street Mount Vernon.

  • First Friday: Dickens of a Christmas Street Fair – Cambridge

    A fun filled evening celebrating the kick off of the Dickens festivities. Father Christmas, magician, stilt walkers and the start of the courthouse light show! Ohio Magazine will also be in hand for the presentation of the Best Hometown Award!

  • First Friday: Celebrate Service – Delaware

    This first Friday event will feature Delaware County nonprofit organizations. The not for profit organizations will provide giveaways, information, and opportunities for people to get more involved in community service. November’s First Friday also will feature games, face-painting, cooking demonstrations, and more family-friendly fun.

  • First Friday: Art Walk – Kent

    Join Main Street Kent for the First Friday Art Walk in downtown Kent! All participating galleries and businesses will stay open until at least 8pm on the first Friday of each month, for all to come enjoy and explore the artwork inside their businesses. Enjoy refreshments, enter in special drawings, view artist demonstrations and participate in activities throughout the downtown district.

  • First Friday: Future Pioneers – Marietta

    November’s First Friday is Future Pioneers. Downtown is set to welcome and encourage all of our local young entrepreneurs to come downtown. This month’s sponsor is Marietta College, who will be located on the Armory Square. In attendance will be the Entrepreneur Program from the College, as well as Student Athletes. Local downtown businesses will be host to several local young entrepreneurs, who own and manage their own business and invite other youth of the like into their shops! Come join us to celebrate all of those who pioneer their own way!

    Also on the Armory Square, Marietta College will be providing giveaways for those who shop local, so come down to shop our local shops.

  • First Friday – Medina

    Spend a Friday evening in the Medina Historic District, and visit the wonderful shops, boutiques, attractions, and so much more. Many stores open until 9pm. Planned activities include live music at different businesses, pop up art shows, and special sales.

  • Thanksgiving Side Dish Food Drive – Medina

    When you’re heading to First Friday, don’t forget to bring a side dish for the Thanksgiving Side Dish Food Drive. Join Main Street Medina and Feeding Medina County in helping others have a happy Thanksgiving.

  • First Friday: Ale in Autumn – Middletown

    Downtown Middletown has planned a evening full of Ale in Autumn fav’s and tons of NEW activities and happenings, including Flannel Fever, DORA specials, Ale in Autumn Beer(d) competition, and the Lincoln Log Lumberjack Competition.

  • First Friday: Ladies Night – Mount Vernon

    Main Street Mount Vernon is excited to again host the upcoming Ladies’ Night in downtown Mount Vernon. This adult-only event will feature open-till-8:00 pm downtown businesses, restaurants, galleries, and more.

  • Movie Night – Tipp City

    We will kick off at 5:30pm with a showing of Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving. Immediately following (around 6:30pm) we will show “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” This is a free event! Bring your own lawn chair and blankets. Join us on the lawn of the Zion Lutheran Church at the corner of N. 3rd and Main St. Downtown.

  • First Friday: Chocolate Walk – Wadsworth

    Walk around to different downtown “chocolate stops” to receive a unique chocolate treat at each business or organization!

  • Shop Small Holiday Expo – Portsmouth

    The Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Portsmouth are teaming up to host the first Shop Small Holiday Expo in the Scioto County Welcome Center, where local neighbors can come together and shop, or plan their shopping lists, based on area businesses or experienced crafters from their own community. You don’t need to order on Amazon or leave town for that special gift. We look forward to seeing you soon!

  • Chardon Macaroni Fest – Chardon

    Did you know one of the industries Chardon was built on was macaroni? Yes, Macaroni! The Chardon Macaroni Factory was a major employer in the early days of Chardon–and we want to celebrate it! Guests will travel around the square scoring Macaroni dishes, special drinks, games, contests and activities! We’ll be partnering with local non profits and businesses to create a weekend-long event that celebrates our historic culture and culinary future!

  • Grip It & Sip It Mini Golf on the Town – Middletown

    Spend the afternoon in Downtown Middletown visiting our great downtown businesses and playing a unique hole of mini-golf at each! Cash prizes! All proceeds will go to our Middletown First Responders, the Middletown Fire Department Fire!

    Bring your own putter and golf ball or use one supplied by the bars and businesses. Bring your own gallery and enjoy food & drink specials during a day of golf and laughs where fun is par for the course! And don’t forget team costumes are highly encouraged!

  • Downtown Piqua Holiday Horse Parade – Piqua

    Imagine horse-drawn carriages, hitches and riders, all outfitted with Holiday Lights, making their way down Main Street. Christmas banners and decorated street trees will create an amazing backdrop for this dazzlingly fun family-friendly event.

  • Historic Main Street Chicken Dinner – Van Wert

    Historic Main Street Van Wert is selling Chicken Dinners to help raise money for our downtown Christmas lighting on November 30th. All proceeds will go to improve the Christmas atmosphere for downtown of Van Wert.

    Join Main Street Medina in celebrating the 34th year of Medina’s Candlelight Walk – Northeast Ohio’s kick-off to the holiday season!  The celebration features over 2 miles of LED lights highlighting the traditional Victorian Square and buildings; over 1,500 luminaries; lighting of a 10′ tall community Christmas Tree in the Gazebo; Iconic traditional ‘Parade of Lights’ through the heart of town; Santa and Mrs. Claus arrival; Entertainment; Shopping and more!

  • Wadsworth Candlelight Walk – Wadsworth

    Make your way downtown to Wadsworth’s Annual Candlelight Walk on Friday, November 16 from 6-9 p.m.!
    Join Santa, the Mayor and the Salvation Army to light the downtown Christmas Tree located in the gazebo! Horse-drawn carriage rides, children’s scavenger hunt, carolers, pictures with Santa, and much more offered by the downtown businesses and organizations! This kick-off of the Christmas Season will continue the next day with a lovely and joyous cantata. Many singers from various Wadsworth churches will present Canticles in Candlelight (a Cantata for Christmas) by Joseph M. Martin on Saturday, November 17, at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ.

  • Window Wonderland – Wooster

    Horse drawn carriage rides, beautifully decorated storefront windows, Santa descending from the rooftop, free hot chocolate, live reindeer, and lots of food & drink specials at Downtown Wooster stores & restaurants are all what make Window Wonderland a treasured event. On Friday, November 16th from 7 – 9:30PM, Downtown Wooster transforms into a winter wonderland. Merchants compete to have the best decorated windows and a stroll through downtown with the twinkling lights and holiday activities is truly magical. Join us for this annual kickoff of the holiday season!

  • Deck the Halls Downtown! – Marietta

    Marietta Main Street needs all hands on deck this year to decorate Downtown Marietta for the holidays! We will be prepping the wreaths and garland to be hung on poles, hanging our holiday flags, cleaning up our sidewalks and bump outs, and of course – hanging all of our decor! It takes a village, so please invite your friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, fellow church members, civic groups – the more, the merrier!

    Join Historic Downtown Millersburg & their merchants for a Christmas Open House & Chocolate Walk for “A Decadent Day of Chocolate & Shopping!” Purchase your ticket-which you will present at your first stop where you will receive an empty box and your first piece of delicious Coblentz Chocolates. Continue your stroll through the Burg shopping and collecting your chocolates. The shops will not only be decorated for the holidays but the sales will be creative and delicious!   • Downtown Holiday Open House – Portsmouth

    An early preview of Small Business Saturday, the annual shopping event known as the Holiday Open House welcomes the community downtown to begin Christmas gift plans. This is independently organized by each downtown retailer, where they will offer various discounts and sales, along with other holiday treats, for shoppers. The best gift you can give isn’t only the special, unique find in a local retailer, but the business you keep local! See you downtown soon!

  • Small Shop Saturday – Chardon

    Stay local this holiday season! Join the Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce and Chardon Tomorrow–along with our local businesses–to celebrate Small Business Saturday. Stop by the Heritage House to grab free doughnuts and coffee and pick up your shopping passport–then shop ’til you drop at participating locations. We’ll have free gift wrap for locally purchased items and be raffling off prizes for completed passports!

    Breakfast with Santa returns to Downtown Lakewood when Jolly Saint Nick himself visits O’Neill Healthcare Lakewood. This popular holiday tradition consists of “Selfies with Santa” photo opportunities (bring your own camera), a seated breakfast (pancakes, eggs and sausage) and a children’s activity room featuring opportunities to write letters to the North Pole. This fun-filled, family-friendly event is open to all ages and is anticipated to sell out quickly. Tickets for both seatings (9 and 10:30 a.m.) of Breakfast with Santa are on sale now.

  • Lighted Christmas Parade – Marietta

    Our annual evening holiday parade will include floats, dance routines, carolers, and much more, all complete with festive Christmas lights. As usual, Santa Claus will make his appearance in the parade as well! After the parade, view the lighting of the City of Marietta’s Brand New, 22′ tall Christmas Tree at the Armory.

  • Portsmouth Today – Portsmouth

    Through an upcoming quarterly public forum, the Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Portsmouth are working in part with Community Action to bring the community together, build momentum on progress, and focus attention on just how much goes on that often goes unnoticed.

    The event is being called Portsmouth Today, and will be held every three months in the Scioto County Welcome Center. It will highlight positivity by focusing on a series of speakers who will update guests on their public events and projects, answer questions anyone may have, and hear input from those in attendance. Bring your calendars ready to be filled out!

    Join Main Street Medina for Medina Restaurant Week, October 5-20, and try the best of locally-owned and operated restaurants in Medina.

  • Cash Mob Monday – Marietta

    Cash Mobs are the perfect way to shop local, have fun, and meet new people in our community all at the same time.

    Each Cash Mob event focuses on supporting local business in downtown Marietta. Once participants show up at the initial meeting location, clues will be provided to learn the surprise location(s) of the evening’s Cash Mob event!

    No participant walks away empty-handed, whether it’s a refreshment, discount, sticker, or goody bag giveaway.

  • Show Me the Money! Workshop – Tiffin

    Come learn about the programs, grants, and loans offered by agencies in Ohio. Learn how you can be tapping into creative solutions for the challenges you face in your community.

    There is no charge to attend this half-day training.

October 5

  • Walk n Wag Fun Run/Walk – Cambridge

    As part of Cambridge Main Street’s First Friday, United Way will feature a 5k or 1 mile fun run/walk with your furry friend. Participants are encouraged to wear a costume. The grand prize will have your pet riding in the Christmas parade as grand fur marshall!

  • First Friday: Breast Cancer Survivor/Representative Reception – Cambridge

    A reception honoring and remembering breast cancer survivors will be held. Wine and light appetizers will be served following a survivor photo on the steps of the courthouse. Survivors are also invited to participate in the Walk N Wag Pet Walk. Dogs from Pound Partners will be available to walk.

  • First Friday: Paws & Prevention – Delaware

    With your $10 registration, pets will receive a map of pet-friendly locations where they will receive a treat for their treat bag. Facebook “likes” on each pet’s photo will elect your pet the “Grand Furry Marshal” of our Christmas Parade on Sunday, December 2! In addition, the Delaware County District Library will award best dog costume in honor of their third annual Great GeekFest comic-con.

  • First Friday: Progressive Dinner – Tipp City

    Tour Downtown Tipp City while satisfying your taste buds! October’s First Friday event will feature our downtown eateries with samples of their delicious favorites! You’ll receive a guide book of the stops with their samples ranging the courses of a meal. Decide whether you’ll finish traditionally with dessert, or eat dessert first! Some locations will have drinks to quench your thirst along the way.

  • First Friday: Wadsworth Oktoberfest – Wadsworth

    Join Main Street Wadsworth for a new twist on an old favorite! Oktoberfest is a First Friday event this year! While all of the usual First Friday fun will be going on, four local restaurants will transform their outdoor seating into mini “biergartens”.

  • 1st Annual Mill Fest – Middletown

    Join Rolling Mill Brewing Company for our version of Oktoberfest! Great food, live music, games, and chances to win FREE Rolling Mill Brewing Company swag!

  • Main Street Sidewalk & Street Sale – Portsmouth

    Join Main Street Portsmouth downtown as we close Second Street to welcome outside vendors and bring the brick and mortar businesses to the sidewalks, for a day of the sidewalk sales that used to fill our streets. We will also have an inflatable for kids to enjoy while parents shop, as well as music on location.

    It’s witches night out! Dress as your favorite spooky gal and explore the district with friends.

    Downtown Middletown is going to the dogs, again! This evening is all about you and your best friend! Bring your BFF’s (Best Furry Friends) to downtown Middletown to enjoy loads of free treats, free vaccinations, $20 Microchipping, explore multiple animal rescues, fun shopping and more! Check-in with us at Governors Square (corner of Central Ave & Broad St) to grab your Doggie Bag and guide for the evening. From there, you can collect free dog treats and goodies from local businesses downtown.

  • Monster Mash + Bash – Chardon

    Fun for the whole family, we’ll host a daytime trick-or-treat on the Square plus some not-so-scary activities. In the evening, we’ll provide Haunted Chardon Tours along with dining and drink specials throughout the Square!

  • Take a Hike – Cleveland

    Take a Hike offers six (FREE!) guided walking tours of distinct neighborhoods in downtown Cleveland! Weekly tours explore the Gateway District, University Circle, Warehouse District, Civic Center, Playhouse Square neighborhood and Canal Basin Park in the Flats. Each tour lasts approximately one and a half hours in length, and features actors and actresses portraying historic figures from Cleveland’s past. Check the website for the full schedule of tours.

  • First Friday: Celebrate School Spirit! – Delaware

    School spirit – hey, let’s hear, see, and celebrate it at Main Street Delaware’s First Friday event!

    The celebration will feature the Delaware debut of the Ohio Wesleyan University Marching Bishops and on-stage performances by students from schools throughout the city and county, along with a concert by central Ohio’s Jimmy’s Last Chance rock band. Delaware-area cheerleaders and mascots also are invited to help add to the fun. In addition, everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite school colors to the first-time event, and local educators are invited to stop by a Teacher Appreciation Tent for special recognition and treats. Finally, there won’t be any tests at Main Street Delaware’s “Celebrate School Spirit” event, but families are invited to try their hand at a round of downtown trivia. Completed game cards may be placed in drawings for free passes to upcoming school sporting events and other prizes.

  • First Friday: Art Walk – Kent

    Join Main Street Kent for the First Friday Art Walk in downtown Kent! All participating galleries and businesses will stay open until at least 8pm on the first Friday of each month, for all to come enjoy and explore the artwork inside their businesses. Enjoy refreshments, enter in special drawings, view artist demonstrations and participate in activities throughout the downtown district.

  • Front Porch Concert Series – Lakewood

  • Kent International Festival – Kent

    Kent’s International Festival and Passport Excursion will take place at the Dan Smith Community Park and in downtown Kent businesses after the fourth annual Run the World 5K. From 11am to 4pm, live multi-cultural performances will be featured at the Dan Smith Community Park.

    Many downtown businesses will participate in a Passport Excursion, offering activities and food/beverage samples from the countries they choose to represent. Many will also feature information about the various study abroad programs available at Kent State. Passports will be available for purchase for $5 at “Customs” in the Dan Smith Community Park that day; race participants will receive complementary passports in their race day packets. Passport Excursion participants will receive a stamp for each passport destination visited. The first one hundred passport holders to return to “Customs” with their completed passports will receive a prize.

    Join Heritage Ohio in Painesville on September 12th for the 4th Revitalization Series Workshop of 2018. The focus of this workshop will be on organizations. We will start the day with a discussion on the importance of public and private partnerships when it comes to the critical work of revitalizing your community and what makes a good partnership, followed by a conversation on board development. After lunch, there will be a panel discussion with several Chambers of Commerce who work alongside Main Street Programs in their communities.

  • Behind the Facade Walking Tours – Tiffin

    On Heritage Festival Sunday, tour the now completed Seneca County Justice Center and explore additional nearby historic residential and community sites. Although the Behind the Façade series normally visits businesses or residences in newly renovated or repurposed structures, the Tiffin Historic Trust has also chosen to feature the new Seneca County Justice Center on this weekend that we are celebrating our heritage and our future. Included in the $10 donation fee for adults and $5 for children are tickets to exchange for refreshments at The Renaissance, Put-n-Pita, The LAB Brewery, Reino’s Pizza, and FroZone between 2:00-5:00 that afternoon. Stroll at your leisure, and visit the following sites offered by our engaged and entrepreneurial citizens!

  • Kent Oktoberfest – Kent

    Join Main Street Kent for the fifth annual Kent Oktoberfest! Presented by Spaten Oktoberfest, this event features seasonal beers, German food, polka dancing, yodeling contests and live music on Franklin Ave. and W. Erie St. in downtown Kent.   • Knowing Your Home Workshop: Weatherization Basics  – Lakewood

    Join LakewoodAlive and Cleveland Lumber Company for a workshop designed to help you get your home in tip-top shape for the fall and winter months. The workshop will highlight a wide range of middle to high impact improvements and “hacks” that you can do yourself that will help to keep the cold air out and your warm and cozy air inside. It will also cover caulking and air sealing techniques, installation of weatherstripping, benefits of storm doors and windows and other easy to do tasks that will make your home more efficient.   • Kent Better Block – Kent

    Kent Better Block is a day-long event celebrating what this area is, and envisioning what we’d like to create for the future. It will be a moment for the whole City of Kent to celebrate this neighborhood’s past and present and envision the bright future that lies ahead.

    We want to temporarily demonstrate the potential North Water has to offer and what it could look like. The street will be filled with community members gathering around bump out seating, improved crosswalks, pop-up shops, murals, and added greenery while honoring the rich history of the street itself.

    Pedestrians and cyclists are encouraged to explore the street, engage with businesses and activities, enjoy community spaces, and check out local artists. Come and bring your family to see what it’s like to build a Better Block right here in Kent!

  • Motors N’ Music – Tiffin

    Classic cars take over historic downtown Tiffin for Motors N’ Music. Stay for The Right Now! performing during the East Green Concert Series. All proceeds from the event will benefit Reclaim It in Tiffin and The East Green Summer Concert Series.

It would be a great way to cross-promote local businesses and our support for one another.

  • Duck Drop Coloring Contest – Piqua

    The 2018 Duck Drop Coloring Contest is now open! PRIZES: (1st) $50 Cinemark Gift Card; (2nd) Stuffed Ducks for the kids, and in the 13+ division a Duck Adoption for this year’s race; (3rd) Farmers Market Dollars. Entries due to the Mainstreet office by 7/26. Winners announced 8/2.

  • Take a Hike – Cleveland

    Take a Hike offers six (FREE!) guided walking tours of distinct neighborhoods in downtown Cleveland! Weekly tours explore the Gateway District, University Circle, Warehouse District, Civic Center, Playhouse Square neighborhood and Canal Basin Park in the Flats.     Head to Fountain Park to hear 60s rock band, The Cyrkle. The Cyrkle was a short-lived American rock and roll band active in the mid-1960s. The group charted two Top 40 hits, “Red Rubber Ball,” and “Turn-Down Day”. In 1966, The Cyrkle was opening for the Beatles on their last U.S. tour. They are now back together and will help you re-live those happy days.

  • Knowing Your Home: Hands-On Window Repair Workshop – Lakewood

    Join LakewoodAlive and Lakewood Hardware for our hands-on window repair workshop. Repairing a window is not only energy efficient and environmentally friendly, but it also helps to keep the historic look and feel of your wonderfully old home. Rotted frames, deteriorated sashes and leaky frames can generally be fixed in window restoration — even a rotting window isn’t necessarily too far gone for restoration. Glenn Palmer will be leading the evening and working with class participants to check window sashes, identify parts of the window, learn simple window repairs such as sash repair, glazing, sash cord repair etc.

  • Chalk it Up! – Vermilion

    Starting at noon, watch as the roads and walks along Main Street begin filling up with bright chalk drawings created by local artistic talent. This year, look for storybook characters and all sorts of “nods” to reading! Enjoy some family and kid-friendly interactive opportunities, too as you watch the streets transform.
    At 3PM, you’re invited to Victory Park for a free, community-wide picnic to celebrate 100 years of Ritter Public Library. Enjoy hot dogs and hamburgers freshly prepared by the Lions Club and cupcakes from Vermilion’s Small Town Sweets. A free concert in the park begins at 6PM starring Emily Keener, local talent and American Idol contestant.

  • The Race That Shall Not Be Named – Kent

    This noncompetitive* 5 ¾ K Fun Run (or walk) will take participants on a magical journey through the Kent State campus at dusk on Friday, July 27 to kick off Wizardly World of Kent 2018. The run will begin at 7:30pm under the arch on the Lester Lefton Esplanade, taking runners on a spellbinding loop though some of Kent State’s most magnificent places. Participants are highly encouraged to dress in magically themed costumes, and several photo opportunities will be located along the course for selfies and group pictures.

    Join LakewoodAlive and Cleveland Lumber Company for a workshop dedicated to learning all about generators.
    Our workshop will focus on educating folks on the very most basics of generators:
    – what are they?
    – Different styles
    – What situations do they work best?
    – How much can they energize?
    – We will then move on to the topic of how they work and learn more about their everyday maintenance.
    – Lastly, we will be focusing on the safety aspect of owning and using a generators during emergencies.

May 4

  • First Friday: Putter Around the Downtown – Delaware

    For a fee of $5 per person, your family can go on a putt-putt adventure around our downtown businesses!  Stop by the Main Street Delaware tent (at Winter and Sandusky Streets) to get your wristbands and scorecards. Completed scorecards may be returned to the tent to be entered into a drawing to win a free round of golf for four at Mill Creek Golf Club in Ostrander. Putters and balls will be provided.

  • First Friday: Art Walk – Kent

    Join Main Street Kent for the First Friday Art Walk in downtown Kent! All participating galleries and businesses will stay open until at least 8pm on the first Friday of each month, for all to come enjoy and explore the artwork inside their businesses. Enjoy refreshments, enter in special drawings, view artist demonstrations and participate in activities throughout the downtown district.

  • First Friday: Marietta Derby – Marietta

    May’s First Friday is Marietta Derby. While the horses are racing in Kentucky, downtown will welcome races of our very own and encourage shoppers to don their biggest and boldest hats as they shop and dine downtown.
    Let’s go to the races! The Marietta Derby might be the most ridiculous, fun, AND community-minded event you’ve experienced in a long time!
    Join us to watch our competitors race against each other in full costume on the Armory lawn to raise money for their favorite local nonprofits. Come on down and place your “bets” by giving donations to your favorite “horse” or nonprofit!

  • First Friday: School Spirit – Middletown

    Come show your school pride this First Friday and sport your favorite school colors- pre-school, high school, college – Downtown Middletown is celebrating them all! Join us for fantastic, scholastic fun for all ages! Downtown will be joining forces to promote life-long learning and partnering with our friends at Middletown Community Foundation to bring you games, raffles and fun to kick off summer!

  • Chocolate Walk & Wine – Painesville

    Enjoy delicious samples of a variety of chocolates at participating merchants in downtown Painesville. Then visit the wineries at the Gage House (47 S, State St.) where you can purchase tickets and a glass to sample the flavorful wines chosen especially for this event.

  • First Friday: Downtown Tipp City Memories – Tipp City

    Join Downtown Tipp City Partnership on a self-guided walking tour of the buildings, where you can write and share your favorite memories of the past at each location. This event is free to the public and a joint effort, hosted by Downtown Tipp City and the Tippecanoe Historical Society.

  • First Friday: “May the Fourth” Be With You – Wadsworth

    With three astronauts connected to Wadsworth, space is a part of our city’s history. NASA Glenn exhibits will be featured at The Strand! You can also pre-register your kids for the Higher Orbits STEM Camp, taking place in Wadsworth in June. Stay tuned for more information!

  • Chardon Spirit Day – Chardon

    Join Chardon Tomorrow’s not-so-second Saturday event in May as they celebrate the spirit of Chardon. They’ll highlight the local school performers and teams, have community games and picnic-style food on the Square. Visit with your favorite teachers, community leaders, and city officials as they help host the day’s events.

  • Clean Sweep – Marietta

    Our annual downtown clean up, Clean Sweep, is scheduled for Saturday, May 5th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. This day of volunteerism requires all hands on deck to support beautification efforts downtown, including Harmar Village. Volunteers will be asked to:
    * clean out and mulch our downtown garden beds
    * sweep our sidewalks
    * pick up trash and debris
    * help any downtown business owners in need of extra hands to clean windows or sweep entryways, etc.
    All volunteers are asked to meet at 8 a.m. at the Armory on Front Street to be assigned to projects in groups. Many hands make light work, and we need as much help as we can muster from local groups, residents, and visitors alike!

  • Main Street Sidewalk & Street Sale – Portsmouth

    Join Main Street Portsmouth downtown as we close Second Street to welcome outside vendors and bring the brick and mortar businesses to the sidewalks, for a day of the sidewalk sales that used to fill our streets. We will also have an inflatable for kids to enjoy while parents shop, as well as music on location.

    Head downtown and see Tipp City’s merchants for sidewalk and tent sales during the annual Tipp-Monroe Community Service’s CITY WIDE Garage Sale Weekend Event!

  • Petunia Party – Marietta

    Have you ever wondered what it’s like to party at 6 a.m. with fellow volunteers and hang 280 flower baskets in downtown Marietta? Well, wonder no more! You’re invited to our Petunia Party! On Wednesday, May 9th, our Design Committee will be up and at ’em bright and early to meet our volunteers to hang this year’s flowers.
    With a full stock of ladders, trucks, and volunteers, this effort should take no more than 2 to 3 hours max. Many hands make light work – the more volunteers we have, the less time we will be out. If you have a friend and a ladder, please grab both and join us!

  • Knowing Your Home Workshop: Plaster Repair & Replacement – Lakewood

    Join LakewoodAlive, Sherwin-Williams and Linda Jancik of Wall to Wall Transformations for a workshop designed to educate folks on how to repair plaster walls and ceilings. Linda will review the anatomy of a wall, what plaster is made out of and the best ways to tackle a repair. This is a great workshop if you are tired of looking at the water damage from that old leaky toilet or tub or if you just want to be proactive and ready for what may come in your wonderful aging home!

  • Ladies Night Out – Medina

    The merchants and members of Main Street Medina and the Medina Historic District, with the support VCS Salon & Spa, Skin Care Solutions, Medina County Women’s Journal, and The Raspberry & The Rose, are pleased to announce Ladies Night Out. Over 30 locally owned and operated businesses in the Medina Historic District will be open extended hours, and will feature great shopping deals, tasty samplings of specialty food products, mini-makeovers, and lots of fun. The evening is geared toward the ladies of the community, but men are welcome to join in the fun. Final specials will be announced that evening, and ladies should stop at the Medina Convention & Visitors Bureau (32 Public Square) at 5pm on event nights to pick up a guide map of participating businesses and deals. Main Street Medina Facebook fans will get a sneak peek at the guide map and specials that morning. Swag bags will be given to the first 200 guests.

    The benefits arising from societal diversity are well-documented. Research shows being exposed to people who are different from us broadens our horizons, enhances our creativity and even makes us happier. But how exactly can we succeed with cultivating a more diverse community in Lakewood? 
    Both the general public and members of the media are invited to attend this free forum as the community seeks to better understand the complexities surrounding the concepts of diversity, equity and inclusion as they pertain to race, ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation. The discussion will delve into best practices for identifying our own biases, serving as a change agent for achieving greater diversity and promoting the creation of an even more inclusive community.
    Moderator Tameka L. Taylor, Ph.D., who serves as President of Compass Consulting Services and previously spent 14 years occupying a leadership role at The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio, will oversee a distinguished group of panelists for an informative discussion.

  • 10th Annual Main Street Vermilion Ice-A-Fair – Vermilion

    The 10th Annual Main Street Vermilion Ice-A-Fair is a day-long winter event for the entire family filled with glistening sculptures, ice carving demos and more! Easily walkable or tour by Lolly the Trolley for $2 a rider or $5 for a family. You’ll find more than 30 shops, restaurants and pubs open to welcome visitors. You’re certain to bump into Jolly the Snowman and Pete the Penguin on the street as you enjoy your day in downtown Vermilion.
    Add a visit to Ritter Public Library to experience Friends of Library Chocolate Festival from 10AM-1PM. Sample chocolate confections to your heart’s content for 50 cents a taste. Stop in at Main Street Vermilion throughout the day to warm up with refreshments and take a chance on an exciting array of raffle baskets.
    The day’s events end at 6PM with a towering display of Fire & Ice in the center of town at Exchange Park. Enjoy this beautiful mix of music, flames and ice that constantly shifts in shape and texture. Will the fire outlast the ice or will the ice quell the fire? You’ll be the first to find out!

  • Dicken’s Victorian Village – Cambridge

    Take a trip back in time and experience old world England as historic downtown Cambridge, Ohio, is charmingly transformed into a Dickens Victorian Village each holiday season. From November through mid January each year, visitors are invited to stroll amidst over 92 scenes of 166 lifelike figures representing classic scenes from Victorian society.
    This innovative public art exhibition is enjoyed by families, couples, and groups alike – an experience that engages the senses as you explore the charming streetscape, striking historic architecture, and eclectic shops and eateries of Cambridge.

  • Take a Hike – Cleveland

    Take a Hike offers five (FREE!) guided walking tours of distinct neighborhoods in downtown Cleveland! Weekly tours explore the Gateway District, Warehouse District, Civic Center, Playhouse Square neighborhood and Canal Basin Park in the Flats. Each tour lasts approximately one and a half hours in length, and features actors and actresses portraying historic figures from Cleveland’s past. Check the website for the full schedule of tours.

  • North Pole Express – Lebanon

    The LM&M Railroad will have our station area decorated with lights for the Christmas season. Hot chocolate and cookies will be available on the platform while you wait for your train and are included with your ticket. Each passenger will receive one cookie that is peanut free, egg free, tree nut free, and dairy free. Every passenger will receive a FREE souvenir hot chocolate mug. Each child will receive a special “North Pole Express” souvenir train ticket.
    During the hour long journey Santa and his elves will make their way through the train to visit with each family. Every child will receive a bell from Santa’s sleigh. We encourage you to bring your own camera, pictures with Santa are allowed and encouraged. Balloon artists will also be on-board the train.

  • Holiday Open House – Delaware

    Join us for the fifth annual Main Street Delaware Holiday Open House. Main Street Delaware’s annual Holiday Open House features specials and free community events for all! Come downtown and enjoy our local shops, see Santa in his home away from the North Pole, and much more. Stores will be open their regular business hours all day Saturday.

  • Dash for Dancer – Delaware

    Oh, no! Santa has lost Dasher the reindeer! Explore downtown, following Santa’s clues to find him and have fun along the way. Along the way, you’ll gather reindeer treats, make crafts, and even see a hidden space or two within our downtown. Begin your hunt at the Main Street Delaware office at 20 E. Winter St. Stop by anytime between 11 am – 1 pm to pick up your first clue.
    This family-friendly downtown scavenger hunt is free of charge so all families are able to participate and make memories in downtown. However, Main Street Delaware is also accepting voluntary donations to help fund Christmas downtown or boxes of cereal to donate to local food banks.
    Don’t forget to stop by the Santa House, located at Strand Theatre, to tell Santa you’ve found Dasher once you’re done. Santa House will open at 1 pm on Saturday. The ice skating rink at Willis Education Center will also be open on Saturday from 12 – 9 pm.

  • Jolly Holiday Boutique Hop – Greenville

    Ladies mark your calendrs for the First Annual Jolly Holiday Boutique Hop. Shop four fabulous boutiques located in Historic Downtown Greenville.   • The Christmas Tree Ship – Vermilion

    No other community can boast a Christmas tradition like this one. Main Street Vermilion invites everyone, young and old, to bundle up and gather riverside at McGarvey’s Landing for the arrival of our Christmas Tree Ship, an icebreaker stocked with Christmas trees and holiday cheer. It’s a heartwarming sight to see the breaker make its way down the river with a US Coast Guard escort, which you’re welcome to tour. There’s music from Vermilion’s own Sid Jordan and the Vermilion Community Band, cookies, donuts and hot chocolate to keep you warm and awards for the winners of the Christmas coloring contest.

  • “Delaware: You’re Home for the Holidays” Christmas Parade – Delaware

    Come out for the annual Main Street Delaware Christmas Parade. This year’s theme is “Delaware: Your Home for the Holidays.” The Delaware Post Office will be collecting children’s letters to Santa along the route. Be sure to have your little ones write their wish list and the Post Office will be sure to get them delivered safely!

  • Holiday Tour of Homes – Painesville

    Six historic locations will be open and on display by the Downtown Painesville Organization to celebrate the holiday season from 1-4 pm. Starting at the Railroad Museum on Railroad Street, the self-guided tour will take you through the Conway Land Title Building, Painesville United Methodist Church, Fitzgerald’s Irish Bed & Breakfast, the Social Parlor in College Hall at Lake Erie College, and will end at the Collacott House. Individuals are also encouraged to attend vespers at Lake Erie College following the tour at Morley Music Hall.
    This tour is to celebrate the holiday season with the community. It is also an opportunity to see and learn about the historic architecture which is not normally open to the public. Proceeds from this event will go to the Downtown Painesville Organization to support its mission of “Building a strong future, while preserving our historic past.”

    This popular annual event features tours of Warehouse District apartments along with new developments in the neighborhood and nearby areas.     The streets of downtown Vermilion brighten for this evening of holiday shopping and fun. Downtown merchants open their doors for extended evening shopping hours, many offering special deals and refreshments to visitors. Stroll the downtown district, stop for hot chocolate or something more grown up and get yourself in the mood for winter holidays. Bring the kids to Main Street where they can write a letter to Santa and make a Christmas lantern to light the way.

    After you shop, head over the Ritter Public Library for a free holiday concert by the Vermilion Music Association Concert Band at 7PM. ‘Tis the season to enjoy your community!

Each tour lasts approximately one and a half hours in length, and features actors and actresses portraying historic figures from Cleveland’s past. Check the website for the full schedule of tours.

  • North Pole Express – Lebanon

    The LM&M Railroad will have our station area decorated with lights for the Christmas season. Hot chocolate and cookies will be available on the platform while you wait for your train and are included with your ticket. Each passenger will receive one cookie that is peanut free, egg free, tree nut free, and dairy free. Every passenger will receive a FREE souvenir hot chocolate mug. Each child will receive a special “North Pole Express” souvenir train ticket.
    During the hour long journey Santa and his elves will make their way through the train to visit with each family. Every child will receive a bell from Santa’s sleigh. We encourage you to bring your own camera, pictures with Santa are allowed and encouraged. Balloon artists will also be on-board the train.

    Live the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday by joining family, friends, and neighbors downtown for November’s First Friday, Thankfull Holiday, sponsored by the United Way of Delaware County Hunger Alliance.     There will be lots of fun, free activities for the whole family. Bring a shelf-stable food donation to fill oversized shopping carts throughout the downtown and share what you are thankful for on our Gratitude Wall.     This summer, explore the unique downtowns and find tonight’s dinner at a farmers’ market in a Ohio Main Street & Downtown Affiliate community.

  • Take a Hike – Cleveland

    Take a Hike offers five (FREE!) guided walking tours of distinct neighborhoods in downtown Cleveland! Weekly tours explore the Gateway District, Warehouse District, Civic Center, Playhouse Square neighborhood and Canal Basin Park in the Flats. Each tour lasts approximately one and a half hours in length, and features actors and actresses portraying historic figures from Cleveland’s past. Check the website for the full schedule of tours.

  • First Friday: 6th Annual Pet Walk – Delaware

    Main Street Delaware’s Sept. 1 First Friday celebration features the sixth annual downtown pet walk and a hands-on display of public works equipment.
    Registration is available now for the pet walk. The cost is $10 per pet, which nets the pets (and their parents) a treasure map to downtown businesses providing special treats along with a doggie bag to collect their loot. Pet walk registration will be limited to the first 100 animals.
    As they check-in, registered pets will be photographed for posting in a Main Street Delaware Facebook album. The pet receiving the most “likes” will be named the “Furry Marshal” of Main Street Delaware’s Dec. 3 Christmas Parade. Pets are encouraged to dress up for a secondary prize, “Geekiest Pet.” The costumed pet receiving the most online votes will win a prize basket, provided by Delaware County District Library.

  • First Friday: Theater on Third – Greenville

    Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, family, and friends for an outdoor movie night! Theater on Third is an outdoor movie experience and will be located in the city parking lot behind Bach to Rock. The movie will be projected onto the Nature’s Heart Yoga building (120 W. Third St.). The event is free and open to all.

  • Front Porch Concert Series – Lakewood

    Come hear legendary jazz musician Ernie Krivda! Attendees are encouraging to bring their family, friends, blankets, chairs and snacks for an entertaining evening at this open-air venue.

  • First Friday: Bring Forth a Pioneer – Marietta

    With about 22 restaurants and 40 active retailers, plus two hotels and a number of venues for night life, historic downtown Marietta is a destination for everyone and anyone to enjoy a night out on the town. A popular program in many Main Street communities, First Fridays are a celebration of small business, community, art, music, and all that makes downtown Marietta special.

  • First Friday: Dog Day Downtown – Middletown

    Downtown Middletown is going to the dogs, again! Join us in downtown Middletown for the Third Annual First Friday: Dog Day Downtown! An evening all about you and your best friend! Bring your BFFFF’s to downtown Middletown to enjoy loads of free treats, free vaccinations, $20 Microchipping, explore multiple animal rescues and more!
    Check-in with us at Governors Square (corner of Central Ave & Broad St) to grab your Doggie Bag and guide for the evening. From there, you can collect free dog treats and goodies from local businesses downtown.

  • First Friday: Live Music & Classic Car Cruise-In – Mount Vernon

  • Street Art Saturday – Portsmouth

    Shop, eat, and stroll down the street to see local art and hear music that reflects our community the first Saturday of summer months.

  • Home Grown Tomato Fest – Tipp City

    Join us downtown at Canal Lock Park as we kick off the first annual Home Grown Tomato Fest, sponsored by Tip Top Canning, where tomatoes are the center of attention and all activities are BYOT (bring your own tomato).
    Local bartenders will be facing off as we see who will be known for having the Best Bloody Mary. This adults only portion of the fest will take place inside the historic Roller Mill. Purchase your tickets to sample and vote. Along with drinks, there will be food trucks offering tomato inspired eats.
    Free activities include a contest to see who can throw and make the LARGEST SPLAT with a tomato (BYOT), a FAMILY TOMATO TOSS where teams face off to see who ends up with the farthest successful toss to their teammate (BYOT), and see who will have the LARGEST HOME GROWN TOMATO! For the grand finale, the fest will end with a giant TOMATO FIGHT (BYOT) amongst any who want in on the battle grounds.
    Clean up and complete your day by heading over to the Tipp City Eagles Park for Tippapalooza with live music beginning at 6pm!

  • Run the World 5K – Kent

    The new Run the World Race Series is a collaborative effort between the colleges and regional campuses within Kent State University and the Office of Global Education to raise money for study abroad student scholarships. The inaugural Series will consist of the third annual Run the World 5K held on Kent State’s Kent Campus.

  • Kent International Festival -Kent

    Head downtown for fun festivities in downtown Kent. All are welcome! Run the World 5K participants, visitors and community members are invited to downtown Kent to explore the businesses on the Passport Excursion, or to just enjoy free, live multicultural performances and fun photo opportunities at the Dan Smith Community Park.
    For just $5, get a passport at “Customs” in the Dan Smith Community Park and go out to explore eleven downtown businesses, each themed a different country with special decorations and displays, and offering special discounts, food and drink samples for passport holders. Get your passport stamped at each location and return it to “Customs;” the first 200 people to return a completed passport will receive a Kent International Festival glass.

  • Amish Country Challenge – Millersburg

    The ride will begin at the Trail Depot in Historic Downtown Millersburg for the Amish Country Challenge. This organized bike ride, touring Amish County in Scenic Holmes and surroundings counties, showcases the beauty and charm of the area. Choose between a relaxed 25 mile routs, a challenging metric century, or step up to the 5000 feet plus vertical gain of the full century. Century riders enjoy lunch and aid stations hosted by local Amish families and businesses in addition to a post-ride authentic Amish meal.

  • 8th Annual Paul Johnson Memorial Fund Soiree – Portsmouth

    The 8th Annual Paul E. Johnson Memorial Fund Soiree will be held on Sunday, September 10 at the home of Barry & Jean Carlson (3026 North Hill Road). Admission is $30 at noon and the event will run until 3 p.m. This Champagne Brunch will feature a tasty brunch and wine, Mimosas and more. In addition, there will be a silent auction of fine wines and other items.
    The Paul E. Johnson Fund is managed and utilized by Main Street Portsmouth for the sole purpose of beautifying downtown Portsmouth with flowers, plants, trees and much more. Residents and visitors to Portsmouth see, as they walk about, beautification “Hot Spots” around town with signs noting that the beautification was provided for by Paul’s fund, Main Street Portsmouth and the City of Portsmouth. To date, Paul’s fund has raised nearly $70,000 dedicated to downtown beautification.

  • Cash Mob Monday: Speed Mob – Marietta

    Show your support for local downtown businesses by coming out for Cash Mob Monday: Speed Mob! This month, three different business will be selected as our destinations. Once inside each shop, cash mobbers must commit to spending at least $10 inside the store. What makes it so fun? Not only do you get to pal around downtown with your friends and neighbors, but you won’t know the shop locations of the Cash Mob until you show up!
    Speed Mob participants will receive fun giveaways, get to visit at least (3) different downtown shops, and enjoy a ride on the trolley to each destination!

    Join LakewoodAlive for our Inaugural plumbing workshop. We will focus on:
    – plumbing as a system;
    – how the system works;
    – what types of materials plumbing is made out of;

  • Kent Oktoberfest – Kent

    The 4th annual Kent Oktoberfest will take place on Franklin Ave., between Main St. and Erie St., featuring German food, seasonal beers, polka music & dancing, and other great local bands thoughout the evening. Entry to the event is free. Delicious food will be available for purchase from: Erie Street Kitchen & Brimfield Bread Oven, Pierogi Joe’s, Grazers, Popped!, Ray’s Place Kent, and Scratch, free range food. Commemorative beer mugs and beer tickets will also be available for purchase.

  • Groovy Gourd Bike Tour – Piqua

    The 5th Annual Groovy Gourd Bike Tour makes its way through beautiful Miami County!
    Join us for a Bike Tour beginning and ending in downtown Piqua. Take a 25, or 50-mile bike ride through the rolling fields of Southwestern Ohio.

  • First Friday: Picnic with the Cops & Chalk it Up – Delaware

    Main Street Delaware’s First Friday will feature a free “Picnic with the Cops” celebration that includes a cop car cruise in, a children’s police academy training camp, an obstacle course, games, hot dogs, freeze pops, and more for all to enjoy.
    Due to severe weather on July’s First Friday, rather than cancelling the Chalk it Up contest, it was delayed to August First Friday.

    First Friday in August features the 42nd Band Organ Rally in Marietta, OH, supported by the Mid America Chapter of the Music Box Society and hosted by Jim and Sylvi Caporale of American Flags and Poles.
    Come experience a mile of the happiest music on earth, from the Historic Lafayette Hotel (The Official Page) to Campus Martius and Ohio River Museum on Front Street and more on Second Street!   • Celebration of Our Farmers – Portsmouth

    National Farmers Market Week is a time to celebrate the hardworking people of the community that labor to offer a better alternative to the box store items. With our farmers, we know their stock is of the highest quality and care… and, the most important thing, how it was grown or made. Our local farmers cater to us every Saturday; it’s our turn to give back. Excitingly, we give back to them by giving back to our shoppers!
    Join us downtown on August 5th, between 9 and noon, where we will continue this celebration with a plethora of prizes. Those in attendance, who have completed a shopper receipt that shows they’ve shopped at various booths, will be eligible to spin a prize wheel and take home free goods from the market. This could be everything from a carton of eggs to a package of steaks.

  • Chalk it Up! – Vermilion

    Watch as the roads and walks along Main Street fill up with colorful chalk drawings created by local artistic talent. Artists arrive at 10am and begin creating their masterpieces. Come early and watch the streets transform. They’ll put the finishing touches on by noon. Stroll this “middle-of-the-road” gallery of expression and enjoy some kid-friendly activities and interactive opportunities for young artists, too!

  • Vermilion Harbour Duathlon & Triathlon

    Hundreds of athletes and spectators descend upon Vermilion to compete in this annual event that tests physical endurance or provides a “I can do it” opportunity for new competitors. The event takes place at Sherod Park, an ideal location for every stage of these swim/bike/fun events.

  • Main Street Portsmouth Farm to Table Dinner

    Main Street Portsmouth is preparing to honor locally sourced food and goods once again with the Annual Main Street Portsmouth Farm to Table Dinner. The meal is being split this year, between caterer and market vendor Roxanne Cooley, who will prepare the sides, and a locally raised hog roasted at the Ribber. We will also be serving locally brewed drinks from the Portsmouth Brewing Company.Music will be provided by the acoustic genius Andy Russell.
